We will have one student presenter each Thursday. In second grade students had an
opportunity to do a star of the week presentation. This year in third grade the
focus will be on a topic of interest.
For example, your child might have a hobby such as rock collecting and would
like to share that with the class. Or maybe, you have traveled to a special
place and they would like to share what they learned. There are endless ideas
and possibilities!
The goals of this activity are to:
·
Have
students practice developing a topic, main ideas, and supporting details.
·
Have
students share their interests with the classroom community.
·
Have
students practice effective communication skills, speaking and listening.
·
Your student’s job is to AT HOME:
·
Complete
the planning sheet (back side of this page) and share it with Mrs. Anderton a
day or two before the presentation.
·
Create
a poster to use during the presentation, and have displayed in the classroom for
a week. J
·
Practice
their presentation at home.
·
POSTERS SHOULD INCLUDE the information from the planning page:
·
The
TOPIC
·
The
presenters name
·
The
main points and some notes/details they will share
·
At
least two pictures (printed out OR hand drawn) with CAPTIONS
·
BE
NEATLY done!
Students should also bring in one
item/object that they can share with the class that represents the topic they
are presenting in some way (to be passed around or just displayed)! Thank you
for your support in assisting your child prepare for their special presentation
day. This will be a great third grade memory for the students!
